Merced County Office of Education

Professional Learning Opportunities

The Merced County Office of Education's Instructional Services Department provides a variety of professional learning and development services for the 21 school districts in our county with the goal of improving student learning and closing the achievement gap. The services are focused on helping districts implement standards-based curriculum, instruction, and assessments that are aligned with state and federal guidelines.

We are committed to helping districts and schools successfully transition to the Common Core State Standards. Our content area experts provide service, leadership and professional development to support powerful teaching and learning across the county. Our Coordinators provide instructional support through professional development experiences, coaching, and customized services that are aligned to state academic standards, frameworks, and materials approved by the State Board of Education.

Because our department is committed to providing timely resources and information, each year we have presenters come to our county whose expertise can inform and benefit the work of district teachers and administrators. We also sponsor mini conferences in conjunction with our Region VII partners to provide our districts an opportunity to work with other districts in our region. Additionally, we provide leadership in a countywide Instructional Rounds network and P-16 Council.
