Educators are in the midst of a historic journey towards the implementation of Common Core State Standards. As California develops structures that address the next generation of student assessments and defines proficiency levels that indicate college and career readiness, the Merced County Office of Education has renewed its commitment to supporting schools. Our office is prepared to provide a number of support structures to our county districts. This includes:

  • Information to facilitate a smart transition,
  • School leadership team training and LEA, SPSA and LCAP planning,
  • Data analysis structures
  • Recommendations to address technical and administrative challenges around assessment development, administration and scoring
  • Coaching to support assessment literacy, the Cycle of Inquiry and focus on improving the instructional core,
  • Program Improvement guidance,
  • Up-to-date tips and direction for utilization of the Smarter Balanced digital library resources,
  • Research-based improvement strategies to support all schools and districts
  • Sustained professional development and teacher capacity.

The Merced County Office of Education is also involved with the Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS). Through this partnership, our office can broker services that assist districts in the development of district and site plans and continuous improvement processes. Our consultants help by engaging teams in the analysis of student needs, and involving school and community stakeholders in actions that result in improved student achievement.
